Part of sinkhole exposed in Highway 16

Thanks to the hard work of our crews and subcontractors, Highway 16 just East of Topley, BC was opened to single-lane commercial traffic at 11:30 PM on Saturday night, April 28.

Commercial traffic getting through Highway 16 East of Topley

Once crews had exposed the sinkhole, options for restoring traffic flow were evaluated by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and it was decided to build up the road to restore a single lane for all traffic to use on the valuable trade corridor of Highway 16 while engineers developed a permanent solution. Traffic will be piloted through the repaired section of Highway 16 until further notice.

Maintaining temporary repair

We would like to thank our crews as well as our subcontractors who worked so hard to open Highway 16 as quickly as possible.
